The Beretta 8000 Cougar is the rotating-barrel predecessor to the PX4 Storm, housed in an all-metal frame rather than polymer. The rotary barrel system debuted in the Cougar and was later adapted for the PX4. The compact 3.6-inch barrel and double-stack 15-round capacity made it competitive with the SIG P228 and Walther P99 in the European law enforcement compact market.
