The Beretta M1951 was a locked-breech service pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, adopted by the Italian Army and widely exported to Egypt, Israel, Iraq, and Nigeria. It was the direct predecessor of the Beretta 92 series, introducing the locked-breech tilting-block action that Beretta would later modify into the rotating-barrel lock of the 92. Israeli military surplus M1951s (called the Brigadier) are commonly found in the US collector market.
