The Helwan is an Egyptian-licensed copy of the Beretta Model 1951, produced at the Maadi factory in Egypt. Externally identical to the original 1951 but with Egyptian proof marks and some internal manufacturing differences. Imported to the US in quantity during the 1980s and 1990s as affordable surplus pistols.
