The Bergmann-Bayard Model 1910 was produced by Pieper in Liège after the rights were acquired from Bergmann, and was adopted as the standard military sidearm by Denmark and Spain. It was chambered in 9mm Largo (9x23mm), the same cartridge adopted by Spain's Astra Model 400. A locked-breech design with a detachable magazine in the grip, the Bayard was well-made and served the Danish military as the Model 1910 and Model 1910/21 through WWII.
