The Colt Model 1902 was the second generation of Browning's .38 ACP tilting-barrel design, improving on the Model 1900 with a revised sight-safety arrangement and minor mechanical refinements. Produced in both Military and Sporting configurations, the Military model had a round hammer while the Sporting model had a spur hammer. About 18,000 were manufactured. It was purchased in small quantities by the US military and sold commercially.
