The Colt Trooper (pre-Mk III) was Colt's medium-large frame .357 Magnum revolver from 1953 to 1969, preceding the Trooper Mk III. Built to tighter tolerances than the Mk III that followed, the original Trooper used the same high-quality manufacturing approach as the Official Police and Python. It was adopted by many state police agencies and represented Colt's primary law enforcement .357 Magnum offering during the era when S&W's Combat Magnum (Model 19) was its primary competitor.
