The Hanyang Type 88 was a Chinese domestic copy of the German Gew 88 Commission Rifle, produced at the Hanyang Arsenal in Hubei Province. It was the primary Chinese infantry rifle through WWI and into the 1930s, eventually supplemented by Mauser 98k-pattern rifles.
