The MP5/40 is the .40 S&W sibling of the MP5/10, developed as the FBI and American law enforcement transitioned away from 10mm toward the more manageable .40 S&W cartridge. The action geometry is similar to the MP5/10 but retuned for .40 S&W pressures. Produced in smaller numbers than the MP5/10. Discontinued as .40 S&W fell out of favor with law enforcement in the 2010s.
