The Lahti L-35 was the Finnish military service pistol designed by Aimo Lahti, the same engineer who designed Finland's legendary KP/-31 submachine gun. Intended to function reliably in extreme Arctic cold, the L-35 used a bolt accelerator — a mechanism that assisted the bolt in cycling in below-zero temperatures where the gas-operated cycle might otherwise fail to function. Finnish guns are excellent quality; Swedish VHP copies (called the Husqvarna M/40) are slightly less refined.
