The DWM American Eagle Luger was a commercial variant produced by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) specifically for the American export market. Bearing an American Eagle medallion on the toggle and chambered in 9mm Luger (later also in 7.65mm Parabellum), it was sold through commercial channels in the United States before and after WWI. The American Eagle logo makes these immediately identifiable and they are among the most commonly encountered commercial Lugers in the US collector market.
