Simson & Co. of Suhl was contracted by the German Reichswehr to produce P08 Lugers after DWM ceased production following WWI. Simson was one of only two companies authorized to produce P08s during the Weimar Republic era (the other being DWM for commercial sales). Simson-produced Lugers are identifiable by the Simson maker mark and Reichswehr acceptance stamps. Production ended in 1934 when the Nazis forced Simson out of business — the Simson family was Jewish.
