The Marlin Model 1895 was a lever-action big-bore rifle chambered in .45-70 Government, one of the few lever-action rifles strong enough to handle the original black powder .45-70 pressure levels (and modern high-pressure loads in the reintroduced Model 1895). The solid-top receiver and side ejection (unlike Winchester's top ejection) made it easy to mount a scope. It served hunters of dangerous game for generations and remains in production today.
