The Karabiner 98 Kurz was the standard infantry rifle of the Wehrmacht through World War II. A shortened derivative of the Gewehr 98, it used the same controlled-round-feed Mauser action that defined bolt-action rifle design for a century. Produced by dozens of factories across occupied Europe between 1935 and 1945, total production exceeded fourteen million. The K98k remains one of the most widely collected military surplus rifles in the world.
