The K98k sniper variant was the standard German Wehrmacht sniper rifle of WWII, built on the standard K98k action but selected for exceptional accuracy and fitted with telescopic sights. Primary optics included the ZF41 (1.5x chin-mounted), ZF42, and the ZF4 (4x). Later production used the higher-magnification ZF4 scope. German snipers armed with these rifles achieved kill distances exceeding 800 meters on the Eastern Front and inflicted massive casualties on Allied forces.
