The Mauser Model 712 Schnellfeuer (quick-fire) was a select-fire variant of the C96 Broomhandle, capable of automatic fire in addition to semi-automatic. It used a detachable 10 or 20-round magazine rather than the standard integral magazine. Designed for military and police export, it was sold to China in large quantities and used extensively by Chinese forces through WWII. In the US, it is classified as a machine pistol and requires NFA registration.
