The MAC-10 is a compact open-bolt submachine gun designed by Gordon Ingram in 1964 and produced by Military Armament Corporation from 1970. Chambered in .45 ACP (with 9mm variants), the MAC-10 fires from an open bolt at a cyclic rate of approximately 1,090 rounds per minute — among the fastest of any submachine gun. The original MAC production ended in the mid-1970s. Post-1986, civilian ownership of pre-1986 registered MAC-10s as NFA items commands significant premiums. Semi-auto civilian versions were made by several successor companies. Masterpiece Arms (MPA) currently produces MAC-pattern semi-autos.
