The Nambu Type 94 is widely considered one of the worst military service pistols ever issued to any army. An external sear bar is exposed on the side of the frame — pressing it fires the pistol without pulling the trigger, regardless of safety position. It could fire if dropped or if the holster snagged the sear bar. Issued to tank crews and aviators due to its compact size, it was a dangerous pistol carried by men who had no better option. Late-war production quality declined severely.
