Canada's disastrous WWI service rifle. The straight-pull bolt was fast and accurate in target shooting competitions. In the mud of the Western Front, the bolt jammed fatally. Worse, the straight-pull bolt could be incorrectly reassembled and fire out of battery, blowing the bolt backward into the shooter's eye. Replaced mid-war by the Lee-Enfield after Canadian units suffered unnecessary casualties.
