The original Vaquero was Ruger's first purpose-built cowboy action revolver, built on the Blackhawk frame rather than the smaller SAA-sized frame of the later New Vaquero. Slightly larger and heavier than the Colt SAA, it was nevertheless extremely popular in the early years of SASS competition.
