The Security-Six with 6-inch barrel was the target and hunting variant of Ruger's first double-action revolver. The longer barrel maximized velocity from .357 Magnum loads and provided a generous sighting radius. Less common than the 4-inch service configuration, the 6-inch Security-Six was favored by target shooters and hunters. Discontinued in 1988 with the broader Security-Six line.
