The SG550 is the Swiss Army's standard service rifle since 1990, imported to the US in semi-automatic form in extremely limited quantities before the 1989 import ban closed the door on further imports. The SG550 features a unique folding tubular buttstock, translucent 5/20/30-round magazines that can be clipped together for quick reloads, and a cold-hammer-forged barrel. US examples were imported between 1986 and 1989.
