The S&W Hand Ejector 2nd Model .455 was produced for the British military during WWI as a simplified wartime version of the Triple Lock. The third lock and barrel shroud were removed to simplify production and reduce cost. Over 69,000 were produced and Lend-Leased to Britain to supplement Webley production. The 2nd Model represents wartime pragmatism — deliberately reducing quality from the Triple Lock to meet wartime volume requirements.
