The Model 60 was the first all-stainless steel production revolver in the world when introduced in 1965. S&W built it on the J-frame to provide the Chief Special in a corrosion-resistant package suited to maritime, coastal, and humid-environment carry. The stainless finish eliminated the bluing concerns of the original Model 36 and proved enormously popular. The 2.125-inch barrel is the standard configuration.
