The Model 66 is the stainless steel version of the original blued Model 19 Combat Magnum — S&W's attempt to combine the K-frame size with .357 Magnum chambering in a stainless package. The 4.25-inch barrel is the standard service configuration. The Model 66 was discontinued in 2005 due to frame cracking issues from sustained hot .357 Magnum use, then reintroduced with an improved cylinder in 2014.
