The Steyr M1912 (also called the Repetierpistole M12) was the standard Austro-Hungarian military sidearm during WWI, chambered in the proprietary 9mm Steyr cartridge. A robust and accurate pistol, it used a rotating-barrel locking mechanism and fed from a fixed magazine loaded via stripper clips — an unusual arrangement for a military pistol. Germany converted many captured M1912 pistols to 9mm Parabellum during WWII.
