The primary Thompson variant of WWII, ordered in massive quantities by Britain (before US entry) through Lend-Lease, and by the US military. Features a compensator, horizontal foregrip, and accepts both 20-round box magazines and 50/100-round drums. The Blish principle (bronze locking hesitation) proved unnecessary — later M1/M1A1 variants dropped it. Issued to paratroopers, rangers, and used extensively in the Pacific.
