The Walther PPK (Polizeipistole Kriminalmodell — "Detective Model") is the compact version of the Walther PP, introduced in 1931 for plainclothes police use. The PPK is 18mm shorter than the PP with a smaller grip frame. Made globally famous as James Bond's sidearm from 1962's Dr. No onward — a choice that defined the cultural image of the spy pistol for 60 years. Used by German police, SS officers, Luftwaffe pilots, and later as a standard German service pistol before modern replacements. The PPK/S was the US import variant (combining PPK slide with PP frame to meet GCA 1968 requirements). Current production by Walther in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
