The Weatherby Mark V is the flagship bolt-action rifle of Weatherby, the company that Roy Weatherby founded to promote his high-velocity cartridge philosophy. The nine-lug action was engineered specifically to handle the extreme pressures of Weatherby Magnum cartridges. The Mark V was manufactured in Germany by J.P. Sauer & Sohn until 1995, then in Japan by Howa, then in the US after Weatherby moved its headquarters from California to Wyoming in 2019. Offered in more Weatherby proprietary Magnum cartridges than any competing bolt-action. The Accumark variant with fluted barrel and composite stock is the modern flagship configuration.
