The 9.3x62 Mauser was developed in Germany in 1905 for African hunting and was immediately adopted by European colonial hunters across German East Africa. Westley Richards chambered their bolt-action rifle for 9.3x62 in response to demand from clients who operated in German and Belgian colonial territories. The cartridge is legal for dangerous game in most African countries and delivers performance between the 375 H&H and 416 Rigby with lower recoil than either.
