The Winchester Model 21 is the only side-by-side shotgun Winchester produced in significant numbers, and it is among the strongest double guns ever built by any manufacturer. The massive double-locking mechanism and precision American machining made it the choice of discriminating American hunters through the mid-20th century. The 28-inch 12-gauge field configuration was the most common. Custom grades were produced into the 1980s by the Winchester Custom Shop.
