Winchester's Centennial model, introduced for the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition. A scaled-up Model 1873 to handle larger cartridges, designed primarily for big game hunting. Theodore Roosevelt carried an 1876 Express on his early Badlands hunting trips. The North West Mounted Police adopted it as their service rifle. Limited by its inability to handle the highest-pressure cartridges (the Model 1886 filled that role).
