The IWI Negev is Israel's standard light machine gun, a short-stroke gas piston squad automatic weapon in 5.56 NATO with quick-change barrel. The Negev replaced the Belgian FN Minimi in Israeli service after its selection in the 1990s. Semi-automatic civilian variants exist in very limited numbers in the US market. Configured for belt feed but can use standard M16 magazines via adapter.
