Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Lindcott Armory ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We built this app with privacy as a core design principle, not an afterthought.

2. Data We Collect

Website: optional submissions. The public reference website (lindcottarmory.com) does not require an account and collects no personal data by default. Two optional forms collect data when you choose to submit them:

  • Competition alerts: if you sign up for match notifications on the Competition Finder, we store your email address to send alerts for matches in your selected disciplines and location. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing support@lindcottarmory.com.
  • Suggest / corrections form: if you submit a data correction or suggestion, your message is stored. Providing an email address for follow-up is optional.

Data you create in the app: gun records (make, model, caliber, serial number, acquisition details), session logs, ammo inventory, optics and accessory information, target analysis photos and shot data, notes, and profile information. This data is stored locally on your device first.

Account data: if you create an account, we store your email address (or OAuth provider token) to enable backup and cross-device sync. An account is not required to use the app.

Anonymous usage: you may use the app without an account. In anonymous mode, no personally identifiable information is collected.

Device information: basic device type and OS version, used only to diagnose technical issues if you contact support.

We do not collect:

  • Location data
  • Contact lists
  • Biometric data
  • Behavioral tracking or advertising identifiers
  • Any data from your device beyond what you explicitly enter into the app

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the functionality of the app:

  • Storing and displaying your firearms records and session logs
  • Powering AI assistant responses (your data is sent to our AI provider solely for the purpose of generating your response; it is not retained or used for training)
  • Recording aggregate AI usage counts (number of queries and token consumption) on our servers solely to enforce fair-use AI limits
  • Generating backup and export files at your request
  • Sending app update and feature notifications (only if you opt in)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage (PWA) or native device storage (iOS/Android app). Cloud backup is optional and enabled only when you create an account and explicitly enable sync.

When cloud sync is enabled, your data is stored with Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by the hosting provider.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: database and authentication (only when you use cloud sync or create an account)
  • Anthropic (Claude API): powers the AI Assistant. Queries include only the context necessary for your question. Data is not retained by Anthropic for training purposes under our agreement.
  • Netlify: hosting for this website

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any behavioral advertising services.

6. Your Rights

  • Access: You can export all your data at any time from Settings → Data & Backup.
  • Deletion: You can delete all your data from Settings → Delete Account. When cloud sync is enabled, deletion also removes your data from our servers within 30 days.
  • Portability: All exports are in standard format, human-readable and importable into other systems.
  • Account deletion: Contact support@lindcottarmory.com to permanently delete your account and all associated data.

7. Children's Privacy

Lindcott Armory is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at support@lindcottarmory.com and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify users through the app. Continued use of the app after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Lindcott Armory ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Lindcott Armory is a personal firearms records and session tracking application. It is designed for lawful personal use by individual gun owners, competitive shooters, collectors, and hunters.

3. Lawful Use Only

You agree to use the App only in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding firearms ownership and use. Lindcott Armory does not facilitate the purchase, transfer, or registration of firearms. We are not a licensed firearms dealer.

4. User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter into the App.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and account credentials.
  • You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data. We recommend using the export feature regularly.

5. AI Assistant

The AI Assistant is provided for informational purposes only. AI-generated responses are not legal advice, medical advice, or professional firearms instruction. Always consult qualified professionals for decisions involving safety, legality, or significant expense.

6. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, and its content (excluding user-generated data) are owned by Lindcott Armory LLC. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer the App without written permission.

7. Data Ownership

You own your data. We claim no rights to the records, session logs, or any other information you enter into the App. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.

8. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT DATA WILL NOT BE LOST.

LINDCOTT ARMORY IS A RECORD-KEEPING TOOL. IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR SAFE FIREARMS HANDLING, PROPER TRAINING, OR COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE LAWS.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LINDCOTT ARMORY LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Laramie County, Wyoming.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the App. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
