The Ruger P85 was the first of the P-series, designed to compete in the U.S. Army XM9 pistol trials. An all-aluminum-alloy framed, DA/SA 9mm service pistol that introduced Ruger to the service pistol market. The P85 had minor reliability issues addressed in the P89 successor. Relatively rare today as most were traded up to P89s.
