The Walther Volkssturmgewehr (Volksgewehr) was a last-ditch stamped steel semi-automatic rifle designed for mass production and issue to the Volkssturm (Home Guard) in the final weeks of WWII. Chambered in the same 7.92x33mm Kurz as the StG 44, it used a simple blowback action despite the intermediate cartridge's pressure levels. Build quality is extremely crude — production was measured in hours rather than days, and only a few thousand were completed before Germany's defeat.
