Size vs familiar rounds

Drawn at true 1:1 — every case is accurate relative to the others. Absolute size depends on your screen's pixel density, so measuring one against a real ruler may be off. .30 Remington AR is highlighted below.

History

Remington launched the .30 Remington AR in 2008 for its R-15 hunting rifle, pitching it as a way to get true .30-caliber deer performance out of an AR-15-size gun without stepping up to the bigger, heavier AR-10. To fit the fat, rebated-rim case into that platform, Remington built a unique bolt that melds small- and large-frame AR parts. It earned SAAMI standardization but never caught on: factory ammo was always thin, and Remington's 2020 bankruptcy finished it off. Today it's a used-market curiosity, capable on paper but a headache to feed.
