About this powder
IMR 4198 is a workhorse fast-burning extruded powder with a history going back to World War II military development. It remains excellent for varmint cartridges like .22 Hornet, .222 Rem, and .223 Rem with light bullets, and for cast-bullet rifle loads where its fast burn prevents leading at reduced velocities.
