Overview

Astra-Unceta y Cia was a Spanish firearms manufacturer founded in 1908 in Eibar (later Guernica), Basque Country. Astra was one of the most significant Spanish pistol makers of the 20th century, producing military pistols for Spain, Germany, and numerous other nations. The Astra 400 chambered in 9mm Largo was the standard Spanish military pistol for decades. The Astra 600 in 9mm Parabellum was produced for Germany in WWII. The Model 900 was a Broomhandle Mauser copy. Post-war Astra produced modern DA revolvers and the Constable and A-75 semi-autos that sold well in the US market. Astra closed in 1997.
