S.W.D. Inc. (Cobray) was an American firearms manufacturer founded in 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia by Wayne Daniel after acquiring rights to the Military Armament Corporation MAC designs. Cobray produced MAC-pattern semi-automatic pistols and carbines under the Cobray brand name — most notably the M11/Nine (9mm semi-auto MAC-11 pattern) and the M12 (.380 ACP). They also made the notorious Cobray Terminator, a single-shot 12-gauge shotgun made from a piece of pipe with a simple striker mechanism. Cobray/SWD is widely associated with the "assault weapon" debates of the early 1990s and their products were frequently cited in crime statistics. The company ceased operations in the late 1990s after the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.
