Intratec was an American firearms manufacturer founded in 1984 in Miami, Florida as a subsidiary of Interdynamic AB of Sweden. Best known for the TEC-9 and TEC-DC9 — a semi-automatic 9mm pistol with a distinctive appearance that made it a focal point of the assault weapons debate in the early 1990s. Despite its menacing appearance, the TEC-9 was mechanically unreliable; however, its cheap price and high-capacity magazines made it widely available. The TEC-9 was specifically named in the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban. Intratec subsequently redesigned the pistol as the AB-10 (removing threaded barrel and top charging handle). The company closed around 2001.

Also recorded as Intratec USA, TEC.
