American shotgun manufacturer founded by Lyman Cornelius Smith in Syracuse, New York in 1878. L.C. Smith side-by-side shotguns were among the finest American sporting guns ever produced, known for their fluid steel barrels, tight fitting, and exceptional balance. The company was acquired by Hunter Arms Company in 1890 and by Marlin in 1945. L.C. Smith shotguns with fluid steel barrels are safe to shoot with modern loads and remain prized by collectors.
