National Postal Meter Company was an American postage meter manufacturer that received a WWII contract to produce M1 Carbines. Between 1943 and 1944, National Postal Meter produced approximately 413,017 M1 Carbines at their Rochester, New York facility. NPM carbines are noted for their consistent quality and are identified by the "NPM" cartouche. The company returned to postage equipment after the war.
