History: Developed for the Guedes Model 1885 single-shot falling-block rifle, Portugal's last major black powder single-shot military arm. Replaced shortly after by the 8x60mmR Kropatschek tubular magazine rifle, making the Guedes cartridge one of the shortest-lived major military cartridges.
