Switzerland adopted this revolver cartridge in 1877 for the Schmidt-Galand and later Chamelot-Delvigne revolvers issued to Swiss officers. A simple black powder design that served the Swiss military until replaced by Schmidt-Rubin rifle cartridges and more modern pistols in the early 20th century.
