History: Developed around 1905 for German colonial hunters in Africa and Asia, the 10.75x57mmR was chambered in the Mauser Model 98 action scaled for large bore cartridges. It was used against Cape buffalo, lion, elephant, and tiger before being supplanted by the more powerful .404 Jeffery and 9.3x64mm in the early 20th century. Still produced by RWS in limited quantities.
