History: SAAMI accepted the .22 Creedmoor in 2024, formalizing what had been a popular wildcat. The concept — necking a Creedmoor family case to .224 — was embraced by varmint hunters who wanted more range than .22-250 and the excellent BC of modern heavy .224 bullets. Factory loads from Hornady running 80gr ELD at 3,285fps deliver performance well beyond .22-250 capability.
