History
Benjamin Henry developed this rimfire cartridge for the Henry Repeating Rifle in 1860. Used during the Civil War, it gave Union soldiers 16-shot capability that shocked Confederate troops. Evolved into the .44-40 Winchester as the Henry became the Winchester Model 1866. The first truly effective repeating rifle cartridge.
