History: Developed by Wilhelm Brenneke in 1917 as a powerful 7mm for European game. Designed to provide magnum-like performance in standard-length Mauser actions. Very popular in Germany, Austria, and Scandinavia. Never caught on in America despite excellent performance. Ballistically similar to .280 Remington but predates it by 40 years.
