Makarov PM 9x18mm
The Makarov PM is the standard Soviet service pistol adopted in 1951, featuring a simple direct blowback action chambered in the proprietary 9x18mm Makarov cartridge — a round designed to be more powerful than .380 ACP but weak enough for simple blowback operation without a locked breech. It replaced the Tokarev TT-33 and served as the Soviet bloc's primary military and police sidearm for decades.
