Sig Sauer MCX Spear 6.8x51mm Semi-Auto
The SIG Sauer MCX Spear is the semi-automatic civilian version of the XM5 Next Generation Squad Weapon selected by the US Army in 2022 to replace the M4A1. Chambered in 6.8x51mm (NGSW Common Cartridge), it fires a hybrid brass/steel cased cartridge at higher pressures than any previous small arms cartridge adopted by the US military. The MCX Spear operates at 80,000 PSI — compared to 62,000 PSI for 5.56 NATO.
